About the Cornish Rex
Originated from a curly-coated kitten born in Cornwall, England, in 1950, developed into a breed with a soft, wavy coat made up only of down hair, with no guard hairs. Slender and athletic, with an arched back and notably large ears.
Temperament
Energetic, playful, and outgoing, the Cornish Rex stays interested in attention and interactive play well into adulthood.
Common health issues
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Patellar luxation
- Hip dysplasia
- Cold sensitivity due to a thin coat
Grooming needs
The very fine, short coat sheds little and needs only occasional wiping; because it offers less protection than a full coat, the skin benefits from regular checks too.
