In adulthood, the priority for a Cornish Rex shifts toward maintaining an ideal body weight through portion-controlled meals and plenty of active play, climbing opportunities, and puzzle feeders to match its naturally energetic nature. The very fine, short coat sheds little and needs only occasional wiping; because it offers less protection than a full coat, the skin benefits from regular checks too. Pairing this with a yearly wellness exam and routine dental checks helps catch subtle changes early, even while the cat seems to be thriving.

In adult Cornish Rex cats, it's worth staying alert for early signs such as lethargy, rapid or labored breathing, reduced appetite, or fainting spells or an intermittent skipping gait or occasional hind-leg lameness. These can be subtle at first, so raising them during an annual exam rather than waiting for them to worsen is a sensible approach given this breed's health background.
