In adulthood, the priority for a Sphynx shifts toward maintaining an ideal body weight through portion-controlled meals and plenty of active play, climbing opportunities, and puzzle feeders to match its naturally energetic nature. Lacking a protective coat, the Sphynx needs regular bathing to remove oily buildup on the skin, along with ear cleaning and sun protection when outdoors. Pairing this with a yearly wellness exam and routine dental checks helps catch subtle changes early, even while the cat seems to be thriving.
⚠️ Watch for
In adult Sphynx cats, it's worth staying alert for early signs such as lethargy, rapid or labored breathing, reduced appetite, or fainting spells or redness, flaking, sunburn, or excessive oiliness on exposed skin. These can be subtle at first, so raising them during an annual exam rather than waiting for them to worsen is a sensible approach given this breed's health background.
