During the kitten stage, feed a kitten-formulated diet to support steady growth, and keep vaccinations and deworming on schedule as recommended by a vet. The medium-long coat has minimal undercoat and resists matting, but benefits from a couple of brushings a week. Starting a gentle grooming routine now, while a Somali kitten is small and adaptable, tends to make handling far easier once it's grown. This early window is also valuable for socializing a Somali kitten to people, other pets, and everyday household sounds.

Most of the conditions linked to Somali cats tend to appear later in life, so this stage is mainly about tracking normal growth: steady weight gain, bright eyes, a good appetite, and normal litter box habits. If anything looks off this early — such as increased thirst, changes in urination, or lethargy tied to kidney or liver function — a prompt check-in with a vet is worthwhile rather than waiting.
