About the Maine Coon
A native North American breed and one of the oldest natural breeds, believed to have developed in Maine to withstand harsh winters. Large and muscular, with tufted ears, a long bushy tail, and a shaggy, water-resistant double coat.
Temperament
Friendly, easygoing, and playful, Maine Coons are often called 'gentle giants,' known for chirping vocalizations and a love of interactive play well into adulthood.

Grooming needs
The long, shaggy double coat needs brushing two to three times a week to prevent mats, especially around the legs and belly.
