LaPerm
Medium activity
Lifespan: 12-16 years
About the LaPerm
Originated from a spontaneous curly-coated mutation on an Oregon farm in 1982, resulting in a breed with a soft, curly or wavy coat in both longhaired and shorthaired varieties. Medium-sized and moderately built, with curls ranging from tight ringlets to loose waves.
Temperament
Affectionate, gentle, and curious, the LaPerm enjoys being close to its people and is generally easygoing with children and other pets.
Common health issues
- Dental disease
- Obesity
- Hairballs
Grooming needs
The curly coat sheds relatively little and rarely mats, so occasional gentle brushing is usually enough.
