During the kitten stage, feed a kitten-formulated diet to support steady growth, and keep vaccinations and deworming on schedule as recommended by a vet. The curly coat sheds relatively little and rarely mats, so occasional gentle brushing is usually enough. Starting a gentle grooming routine now, while a LaPerm kitten is small and adaptable, tends to make handling far easier once it's grown. This early window is also valuable for socializing a LaPerm kitten to people, other pets, and everyday household sounds.

Most of the conditions linked to LaPerm cats tend to appear later in life, so this stage is mainly about tracking normal growth: steady weight gain, bright eyes, a good appetite, and normal litter box habits. If anything looks off this early — such as bad breath, drooling, or reluctance to eat hard food — a prompt check-in with a vet is worthwhile rather than waiting.
