The thin, wavy coat needs minimal brushing, though the skin can accumulate oil and may benefit from occasional bathing and regular ear checks. Pairing this with a yearly wellness exam and routine dental checks helps catch subtle changes early, even while the cat seems to be thriving.

In adult Devon Rex cats, it's worth staying alert for early signs such as lethargy, rapid or labored breathing, reduced appetite, or fainting spells or muscle weakness, an unusual gait, or tiring quickly during play.
