Devon Rex — Junior Care
Care recommendations — Junior stage
As a Devon Rex moves into the junior stage, most individuals are finishing their growth and can transition to a quality adult-maintenance diet; this is also a common point to ask a vet about spay or neuter timing if it hasn't happened already. Provide plenty of active play, climbing opportunities, and puzzle feeders to match its naturally energetic nature, since cats at this age typically have energy to spare. Keep up the grooming habits introduced in kittenhood so they remain a normal, low-stress part of handling.
⚠️ Watch for
It's still uncommon at this age to see clear signs of the conditions Devon Rex cats are predisposed to, but it doesn't hurt to ask a vet whether early baseline screening makes sense. Keep an eye out for lethargy, rapid or labored breathing, reduced appetite, or fainting spells, or muscle weakness, an unusual gait, or tiring quickly during play, and mention anything unusual at routine visits.
