The semi-long coat has a relatively low-maintenance undercoat but still benefits from twice-weekly brushing to prevent mats. Pairing this with a yearly wellness exam and routine dental checks helps catch subtle changes early, even while the cat seems to be thriving.

In adult Ragdoll cats, it's worth staying alert for early signs such as lethargy, rapid or labored breathing, reduced appetite, or fainting spells or straining to urinate, frequent trips to the litter box, or blood in the urine. These can be subtle at first, so raising them during an annual exam rather than waiting for them to worsen is a sensible approach given this breed's health background.
