About the Exotic Shorthair
Developed by crossing Persians with American Shorthairs to produce a Persian-type cat with a short, plush coat. Shares the Persian's round face, stocky build, and sweet expression, but with far less grooming demand.
Temperament
Calm and affectionate, the Exotic Shorthair shares much of the Persian's easygoing temperament, though it is often a touch more playful and curious.

- Polycystic kidney disease
- Brachycephalic airway issues
- Dental malocclusion
- Excessive tearing
Grooming needs
The dense, plush coat is easier to manage than the Persian's but still benefits from a few brushings a week, along with periodic cleaning of the facial folds.
