About the Munchkin
A relatively modern breed established in the 1990s, defined by a natural genetic mutation that shortens the legs while the body remains normal length. Found in both shorthaired and longhaired varieties and nearly any color.
Temperament
Playful, curious, and sociable, the Munchkin remains agile despite its short legs and is often described as extroverted and eager to play.
Common health issues
- Lordosis (spinal curvature)
- Pectus excavatum
- Osteoarthritis
Grooming needs
Coat length varies by individual; shorthaired Munchkins need minimal brushing, while longhairs benefit from a couple of sessions a week.
