As a Himalayan moves into the junior stage, most individuals are finishing their growth and can transition to a quality adult-maintenance diet; this is also a common point to ask a vet about spay or neuter timing if it hasn't happened already. Provide gentle, low-key play sessions, since Himalayan cats are typically content with a calmer pace, since cats at this age typically have energy to spare. Keep up the grooming habits introduced in kittenhood so they remain a normal, low-stress part of handling.
⚠️ Watch for
It's still uncommon at this age to see clear signs of the conditions Himalayan cats are predisposed to, but it doesn't hurt to ask a vet whether early baseline screening makes sense. Keep an eye out for increased thirst, more frequent urination, or unexplained weight loss, or noisy or labored breathing, snoring, or tiring quickly during activity, and mention anything unusual at routine visits.
